Correspondence Between Jewish Community Committees, Iraqi Government, Baghdadi Schools

Description

These are archival materials from the Baghdadi Jewish community. Contents and topics include: correspondence between the different community committees, the Iraqi government, schools in Baghdad, and the diaspora community – primarily the Jewish community in Shanghai, China. مع اطفالها الايتام وافهموني ان حضرتكم كنتم قد تبرعتم لهاتين العائلتين بمبلغ الف ومائتي روبية
سنويا منذ اكثر من ١٢ سنة ليستعينوا بها على الحياة . وانه في الايام الاخيرة تلقوا خبرا
من محلكم في بمباي مفاده ان هذا المبلغ سيقطع عنهم اعتبارا من هذه السنة .

ان المذكورين كلهم من الفقراء والمحتاجين الذين ليس لهم من يعتمدون على مساعدته غير
حضرتكم وقد طلبوا مني ان ابين حالتهم هذه والتمس شفقتكم ان تعطفوا عليهم وتأمروا بالاستمرار
على دفع المبلغ كالسابق وليس هذا على مروءتكم وسخائكم ببعيد ⟦...⟧
