The Jewish Hospitals Committee
Baghdad
Dear Sirs,
We regret to state that in spite of many oral demands
we have not been paid again for almost four months. Therefore
we beg to ask you to pay us immediately the total sum of the
arrears.
Owing to the serious and deplorable events of which the
Committee is well aware we have to insist this time on full pay-
ment without any delay. We have to send to our nearest relations
regular financial supports for their living.
We are sure that the Committee will recognize the full
importance of our request.
Yours faithfully

I feel a little bit better now
and hope to be able to leave
Damascus for Baghdad on Tuesday
the 13th inst.
How are you spending the time
in the Lebanon? I hope you had
a pleasant stay and a good rest.
With many kind wishes Yours sincerely

This Committee has noticed lately that the work and
the discipline of all the nurses inside the hospital are not
supervised as they ought to be . This state of affairs has been
going on since a long time and owing to the fact that no head-
nurse could be engaged for the present, the Committee has decided
in its meeting held on the 31st. Oct. 1937 to request you to take
up the temporary charge for the supervision of all the nurses as
far as their works, their behaviour inside the Hospital and their
leave days are concerned until a capable Headnurse could be eng-
aged from abroad.

Greetings,
With reference to Dr. Lambaro's letter which you showed me ⟦to inform me⟧ that the changes
requested are to be postponed until the arrival of the honorable Mr. Bronkor. The aforementioned doctor has
already started the required arrangements as I informed you verbally, and the tragedy is that he used for his construction the bricks
of the hospital gardens. He had the builders pull these bricks from the gardens to use them
for construction, and this means that he has erased the efforts and days spent by the farmers to sort these bricks
and organize them in the gardens. There are many matters I do not mention because they are considered trivial compared to
this, as they are all of this type, and my opinion ⟦and my fear⟧ is that they will be repeated if he is not deterred.
I offer my respect and thanks.

Baghdad. 11th September '36.
Mr. Ibrahim Nahom.
President,
B A G H D A D.
Dear Sir,
I beg to inform you of the following:
Some days ago one of the office staff of the
Hospital came to see me at my home regarding the repairs
which have to be done. I was informed on the telephone last
Friday by the Hospital's office on your behalf that the
committee agrees to the removal of the bath stove, whilst
all the other repairs, as intimated in my letter of the 26th
August, could not be done now. From this I can only presume
that I misinterpreted the employee concerned or you have been
misunderstood by him. If such is not the case, perhaps you
have not been well acquainted about the matter.
The completion of the room, which should have been
done at that time and the ceiling of which has fallen down
partially, will not cost more than about I.D.6. The repairs of
the ceiling in the other room, which has partly been damaged
by humidity and is showing black spots, will likewise not
exceed I.D. 4. or 5. The expenses to be incurred will,
therefore, be only a small amount.
Last but not least, and I feel sure you will fully
share my point of view, one cannot expect any decent person
to stay in a dirty house which is partially incomplete.
Besides, I should like to mention that Mr. Meir
Dangoor, Vice-President of the Hospital, after having
carefully inspected the condition of the house, promised to
get the necessary repairs done in a short time. This, apart
from consideration of all the above-mentioned facts, would be
sufficient reason to get the repairs done. I suppose that all
my explanations will be clear to you, and that you will agree
entirely with me thereon.
To facilitate matters for you, I am ready to
maintain my suggestion, as in my letter of the 7th instant,
of carrying out the necessary repairs myself at the Hospital's expense
I should accordingly take it for granted that you concur with
this proposal unless I shall receive intimation from you to
the contrary until the 20th instant.
I should feel especially obliged to you if you will
let me have your reply, if any, directly, and not through the
medium of the Hospital's office.
I remain, dear Sir,
Yours faithfully,
N. Lampert.
Submitted for the committee's information at its meeting held on ⟦1/10/36⟧
And since the repairs have already been carried out, see the list submitted
by the council in this regard
