9070/000 Taxes for the current year
89/000 Additional tax
9159/000 Only nine thousand one hundred and fifty-nine dinars.
And that is according to the warnings numbered 751, 684, 686, 683, and 685 dated 6/6/1963
and 20/5/963 respectively. We present before your respected General Directorate the following:-
(1) The endowments of Menahem Salih Daniel, which consist of 297 shares out of 504 shares of
the shops of the well-known Menahem Market (Khan Jaghan) and some other few roofed structures, were
under the trusteeship of Emil Salih Shlomo since the year 955 and were managed by an agent of his, Edward Yaqub
Shashoua. In view of the illegal actions taking place by the trustee and his agent and their squandering of
all the endowment's revenues and their leasing of all its properties for long years and their receipt of all the rents, among other
actions, the Court of Personal Matters in Baghdad decided to remove him from the trusteeship in the lawsuit numbered
30/Sh/959, and the decision became final in the month of August/962.
(2) The Court of Personal Matters in Baghdad decided to assign the trusteeship of this endowment to the Administrative Committee
for Iraqi Jews on the date of 15/9/962.
(3) Our committee, after receiving the duties of the trusteeship, found that the previous trustee and his agent, in addition to their squandering of
all revenues for the years from 955 to 962, had leased all the endowment properties for three
additional years and received all the rents, in addition to the seizure of all the properties' revenues by their creditors,
and that the amounts of the seizures exceed thirty thousand dinars, according to the primary lawsuit numbered
45B/61 filed in the Karkh Court of First Instance.
(4) The Administrative Committee found that this endowment is overwhelmed with debts and seizures; nevertheless, in appreciation
of its responsibility, it must settle all these matters, hoping for the assistance of the competent authorities that have
a relationship with this endowment, including your respected General Directorate, requesting an appreciation of the circumstances surrounding this endowment.
(5) In view of what we have briefly presented in the previous paragraphs, our committee presents the following proposal for the purpose of
settling the matter of these taxes as follows:-
A- We will pay the current taxes amounting to -/1450 dinars immediately, and our committee will continue to fulfill
the taxes for the coming years, year by year.
