In view of what was stated in the decision of the Legal Codification Bureau dated 15 / 9 / 1953 addressed
by us, stating that the councils provided for in the Jewish Community Law No. 17 of 1931 for the community
of Baghdad of the aforementioned sect have no legal existence, and that the presidency of the sect entrusted to the head of the Lay Council
after the dissolution of the aforementioned councils became illegitimate and dissolved, and due to the confusion occurring in the status of the sect
in many respects, the old legislation no longer fits the current situation it is in now. Therefore, and due to the differences
occurring among the Baghdad community, and in view of what was stated in Article (17) of the aforementioned law, it has been decided after deliberation
with a number of notables of the aforementioned community to appoint Rabbi Sassoon Khedhouri as Acting President of the sect starting
from the date of this order.
