In view of what was stated in the decision of the Codification Bureau dated 15 / 9 / 1953 directed
by us, stating that the councils stipulated in the Jewish Community Law No. 17 of 1931 for the group
of Baghdad from the aforementioned community have no legal existence and that the leadership of the community assigned to the head of the Lay Council
after the dissolution of the aforementioned councils became illegitimate and dissolved, and due to the confusion occurring in the status of the community
in many respects, the old legislation has become incompatible with the current situation it is in now. Therefore, and due to the disputes
occurring among the Baghdad group, and in view of what was stated in Article (17) of the aforementioned law, I have decided after deliberation
with a number of notables of the aforementioned group to appoint Rabbi Sassoon Khedouri as acting head of the community starting
from the date of this order.
