But rather, your iniquities have separated between you and your God, etc.
And with this will be explained the words of our Sages of blessed memory in Midrash Rabbah on Parshat Vayechi: "And Jacob called to his sons and said, Gather together, etc."; he said to them: "Perhaps,
Heaven forbid, there is in your hearts a defect like Abraham, from whom Ishmael emerged," etc. They replied to him: "Hear O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is One. Just as there is
nothing in your heart but One, so there is nothing in our hearts but One." Jacob our forefather opened and said: "Blessed be the Name of the glory of His Kingdom forever and ever," etc. And it is difficult for them
of blessed memory, what occurred to the tribes when they came before their father to precede and say, "Hear O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is One," etc.? And what
did they desire by this? If regarding idol worship, Heaven forbid, it has already been said of them "The tribes of Yah, a testimony for Israel to give thanks to the Name of the Lord," etc.
And how is it relevant to say, "Perhaps there is in your hearts a defect," etc.? And what did they reply to him, "Hear O Israel," etc.? And what is the matter of "Blessed be the Name of the glory of His Kingdom forever and ever"
to this? Rather, the matters will be clarified with what we wrote above regarding the matter of the exile and the division of levels in terms of the internal
and external; and through the sin of Adam the first, good was mixed with evil and souls were mixed within the Husks (Kelipot) and became in the state of exile ~
And between both of them there was nourishment in the aspect of externality; "on account of your iniquities they separated between you and you."
For because of the exile, everything is in the aspect of separation, in the aspect of ⟦in the explanation of⟧ Blood (Dam); for there is blood there in externality, i.e., and for this
sin they were sentenced to exile in the aspect of Blood (Dam). And through repentance, prayer, and charity, the judgments will be nullified and sweetened in the aspect of Man (Adam).
And this is what Jacob our forefather requested of his sons, to know if they were in the aspect of Man (Adam) or in the aspect of Blood (Dam), Heaven forbid, and if there is separation in their hearts, Heaven
forbid. And to this they replied, "Hear O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is One," meaning that there is no separation in their hearts and they are not in the aspect of Blood (Dam), but in the aspect of
Man (Adam) which is entirely one without separation, and everything was unified for the Blessed Lord. And to this he answered, "Blessed be the Name of the glory of His Kingdom forever and ever," etc.
It also appears that the tribes are such that because their iniquities were joined in them, they are not with Him and there is not in it ⟦with him⟧ in this in the aspect of the Husk, and there is not in this
the aspect of unity. And through repentance, prayer, and charity, the judgments will be nullified and sweetened in the aspect of Man (Adam). And this is what Jacob our forefather requested
of his sons, to know if they were in the aspect of Man (Adam) or in the aspect of Blood (Dam), Heaven forbid, and if there is separation in their hearts, Heaven forbid. And to this they replied, "Hear O Israel,
the Lord our God, the Lord is One," meaning that there is no separation in their hearts and they are not in the aspect of Blood (Dam), but in the aspect of Man (Adam) which is entirely one without separation, and everything was unified for the Blessed Lord.
And to this he answered, "Blessed be the Name of the glory of His Kingdom forever and ever," etc.
All positive commandments are in the aspect of Man (Adam), and all negative commandments are in the aspect of Blood (Dam). And through repentance, prayer, and charity, they will be nullified,
the judgments, and be sweetened in the aspect of Man (Adam). And this is what Jacob our forefather requested of his sons, to know if they were in the aspect of Man (Adam) or in the aspect of Blood (Dam), Heaven
forbid, and if there is separation in their hearts, Heaven forbid. And to this they replied, "Hear O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is One," meaning that there is no separation in their hearts,
and they are not in the aspect of Blood (Dam), but in the aspect of Man (Adam) which is entirely one without separation, and everything was unified for the Blessed Lord. And to this he answered, "Blessed be the Name of the glory of His Kingdom
forever and ever," etc. (As explained there in Parshat Vayechi).

Beshalach
And the Lord said to Moses, etc.
Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in My law, or no. Behold,
The Blessed Name in His great providence over us sent us the Manna which is spiritual food, and each and every one would taste in it all the delicacies of the world
for everything was included in it. And this is what the Scripture says, "that I may prove them, whether they will walk in My law, or no." The meaning is: when you eat this
spiritual bread and will not need to engage in labor because the food will come to you without effort, then I will see if you walk in My law or not.
For now you have no argument to say that we are busy with our sustenance. For behold, the food is prepared before you. And this is what the Scripture says,
"Behold, I rain bread from heaven for you." Meaning spiritual food. And this is what the Scripture says, "that I may prove them, whether they will walk in My law, or no."
And there is more to interpret regarding "whether they will walk in My law or no." Meaning if they eat the Manna in holiness and purity and remain attached to the Blessed Lord and His holy Torah
then the Manna will descend for them with ease and tranquility. And if, God forbid, they sin, the Manna will descend for them with effort and toil, and this is the trial.
And you shall take this staff in your hand
Behold, the Blessed Name told Moses to take the staff in his hand to perform signs and wonders before Pharaoh. And this is the staff
upon which the holy names were engraved, "and you shall take this staff in your hand." The meaning is this staff is the well-known staff
with which you shall perform the signs. And this is what the Scripture says, "and you shall take this staff in your hand, wherewith you shall perform the signs."
For with your sword and with your bow you took from his hand
Behold, our father Jacob, peace be upon him, said to his son Joseph, "And I have given you one portion above your brothers, which I took from the hand of the Amorite with my sword and with my bow."
Did our father Jacob, peace be upon him, really take it from the hand of the Amorite with his sword and his bow? Is it not said, "For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me"?
Rather, "with my sword and with my bow" means with my prayer and with my petition. And this is what the Scripture says, "which I took from the hand of the Amorite with my sword and with my bow."
And Targum Onkelos translates: "with my prayer and with my petition."
There is further to interpret that all this action from the Blessed Name is the foundation of foundations and the root of all deeds and works in the world.
And all deeds are entirely from the power of the Blessed Name, and there is no power in the world outside of His Blessed power.
And this is what the Scripture says, "For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, the mighty, and the awesome."
And a person must know that everything he has in this world is entirely from the Blessed Name, and he has no power of his own.
And this is what the Scripture says, "For all things come from You, and of Your own have we given You." And everything a person has in this world is entirely through the providence of the Blessed Name.
And if a person merits and walks in the ways of the Blessed Lord, then he will merit all good in this world and in the world to come. And this is what the Scripture says,
that the Blessed Name desires those who fear Him, those who hope for His mercy. And whoever trusts in the Lord, mercy shall surround him. Happy is the man who trusts in the Blessed Lord.

And Jacob sent messengers before him
And Jacob sent messengers before him to Esau his brother to the land of Seir, the field of Edom, for in Midrash Tanchuma, portion Vayishlach, section 1, Rav Huna opened:
He who grabs the ears of a dog passing by, meddles in a quarrel not his own. This is like one who was sleeping at a crossroads; one passed by and woke him. He said to him: Rise, go,
go because of the wild beasts that are here. He said to him: You woke me from a comfortable sleep I was in. So said the Holy One, Blessed be He, to Jacob: For his own way Esau was
walking and it was in his mind to go his way, and you sent to him and said to him: Thus shall you say to my lord, to Esau, and he was awakened and came upon you with four hundred
men; and concerning this it is said, He who grabs the ears of a dog passing by, meddles in a quarrel not his own. And he sent actual messengers, for He shall charge His angels for you to protect you in all your ways.
And he commanded them, saying: Thus shall you say to my lord, to Esau: Thus said your servant Jacob: I have sojourned with Laban and stayed until now. And I have ox and donkey, flock and servant and maidservant,
and I have sent to tell my lord, to find favor in your eyes. And the messengers returned to Jacob, saying: We came to your brother, to Esau, and also he comes toward you, and four hundred men are with him.
And Jacob was very afraid and it distressed him; and he divided the people who were with him, and the flocks, and the cattle, and the camels, into two camps. And he said: If Esau comes to the camp,
the one, and strikes it, then the remaining camp shall escape. And Jacob said: O God of my father Abraham and God of my father Isaac, Hashem Who said to me: Return to your land and to your birthplace, and I will do good with you.
I am diminished from all the kindnesses and from all the truth that You have done for Your servant, for with my staff I crossed this Jordan, and now I have become two camps.
Save me, please, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau, for I fear him, lest he come and strike me, mother with children.
And You said: I will surely do good with you, and I will make your seed as the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for multitude.
And he lodged there that night.
And he took from what came into his hand a tribute for Esau his brother: two hundred she-goats and twenty he-goats, two hundred ewes and twenty rams, thirty nursing camels and their young, forty cows
and ten bulls, twenty female donkeys and ten foals. And he gave into the hand of his servants each drove by itself, and said to his servants: Pass before me and put a space between drove and drove.
And he commanded the first, saying: When Esau my brother meets you and asks you, saying: To whom do you belong, and where are you going, and to whom belong these before you? Then you shall say: To your servant, to Jacob; it is a tribute sent
to my lord, to Esau; and behold, he also is behind us. And he commanded also the second, also the third, also all those who followed the droves, saying: According to this word
shall you speak to Esau when you find him.
And you shall say also: Behold, your servant Jacob is behind us. For he said: I will appease his face with the tribute that goes before me, and afterwards I will see his face; perhaps he will accept my face. And the tribute passed
before him; and he lodged that night in the camp. And he rose in that night and took his two wives and his two maidservants and his eleven children, and crossed the ford of Jabbok.
And he took them and passed them over the stream, and passed over that which was his. And Jacob was left alone, and a man wrestled with him until the rise of dawn. And he saw that he could not prevail against him, and he touched the socket of
his thigh, and the socket of Jacob's thigh was strained as he wrestled with him.

Further regarding this verse etc.
When he came to the land of Egypt through the angel appointed over thought, and it comes to teach you that all your thoughts should be for the sake of
Heaven; and even if you think for the sake of Heaven, first of all tell the Blessed Name that in His mercy He should purify you and your thoughts,
As it is written: Do not look at his appearance or his tall stature etc., and examine [it].
Explanation for this verse etc. and the reason why they are missing etc.
Behold, you know it is written: "And I have given you one portion (Shechem) above your brothers," and the explanation of the matter is that he received the aspect of Shechem, the aspect of Kingship,
The aspect of Honor all day, the aspect of Lordship first, and His glory shall fill the earth; and this is the matter of "one Shechem," the aspect of Kingship, the aspect of "1"
Before it comes to the matter of brothers; and this is the aspect of Lordship that preceded Kingship, and afterwards the aspect of Shechem brothers,
And afterwards: "And you shall contemplate his appearance," as written in the prophecy of Amos, and this is the opening to the King's house etc. If you wish to know the Kingship,
The aspect of Thought that preceded everything, and you shall contemplate that truly He is supreme over lords who lead everything, and this is the depth of thought,
The aspect of "1" that preceded everything, and this is the Blessed Name, for Thought is above every aspect of thought, for the kingdom is His,
Because the whole matter of this world is in the aspect of Thought that preceded everything, and this is the aspect of the Name: Hashem our God, Hashem is One,
The Name Hashem is the aspect of "1", every desire He desires to do, blessed be the place where His desire is, and for this he said missing etc.

And we shall return to the matter of the abandoned house etc., and examine [it].
The intent of what is written: "Why is the house of God abandoned" etc. Since the matter we wrote above [applies], in this the verse will be explained: Why the aspect of
The Holy Temple is destroyed and its inhabitants exiled? Why is the aspect of Thought destroyed, the aspect of missing etc.? And this is what we wrote, the aspect of
My Lord, Kingship, see there and you will find the sight of the eyes, the aspect of Thought in which the matter of Shechem, the aspect of "1", is missing; and this is the matter
That we have explained the verse, and this is the explanation of the verse in its place, and examine this.
Let us return to the matter of the verse mentioned above.
And you shall call them by their names, in these names every blessing etc.
Behold, the aspect of names—these names in these are the thoughts of a person in his thought, that the name begins with the aspect of
The name of Thought, and this is every blessing shall be given with the change of thought, and this is the aspect of His name the Thought, for His name
Y[ud] rises to the count of Thought, and this is the aspect of Thought, and this is the aspect of God Most High, the aspect of Thought, the aspect of His name etc. Hashem our God
Hashem is One, and this is the aspect of "1" which indicates Thought, that all blessings shall be blessed and become the aspect of Thought.

In the name of the Compassionate, full of mercy, we shall begin
Blessed be the God of Israel who gave the Torah to His people Israel through our teacher Moses, peace be upon him, containing positive and negative commandments
And he who fulfills them merits life in the world to come, and he who does not fulfill them, his punishment is great, may the Merciful save us; and every person is obligated to study
these commandments and their laws so that he may know how to perform the commandments according to their law. Therefore, I, the young Joseph son of Ezra, of blessed memory, saw fit to write
the names of the commandments briefly in the Arabic language so that they may be easy on the tongue, and also the commandments that are practiced in this time outside the Land
for this study is a great commandment for every person
And behold, may the Lord increase you a thousand times over and bless you as He spoke to you. And the first commandment is a positive commandment
to believe that there is one eternal God
Commandment 2: ⟦(1)⟧ to believe in the unity of the Creator, blessed be He, and He is singular and unique in the aspect of unity and there is none like Him in any way
And if you say, what is the difference between Commandment 1 and Commandment 2, for behold both are one matter since we speak of faith, and what is between
the two? The answer is that Commandment 1 is a positive commandment to believe that there is one God existing in the world and He is the true God, and everything
besides Him is not truth, and He is the one who brings all existing things into existence, and existing things cannot endure without Him, while He, may He be blessed,
does not need them in any way at all, neither for help nor for assistance, rather He is the one who brings all existing things into existence and He is the leader of everything
and all existing things need Him. And in Commandment 2, it is a positive commandment to believe that He, may He be blessed, is one in any sense, not two and not three,
but one, singular and unique in any sense, not separated and not divided in any sense. And these are the first two positive commandments.
Commandment 3: to love the Lord with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And how is the love? It is when a person contemplates the commandments
of the Holy One, Blessed be He, and His wonders and His Torah, then he will recognize the greatness of the Holy One, Blessed be He, and his heart will be inflamed with His love, and this is a positive commandment.
Commandment 4: to fear the honored and awesome Name, as it is said: 'The Lord your God you shall fear.' And how is the fear? When a person thinks of his deeds
the evil ones that he did, and he shall fear the punishment of the Name, may He be blessed.
Commandment 5: to serve the Lord with all your heart. And what is the service of the heart? This is prayer, and this is a positive commandment.
Commandment 6: to cleave to Him, may He be blessed, as it is said: 'and to Him you shall cleave.' And how is the cleaving? It is when a person cleaves to Torah scholars and hears
their words and learns from them, and this is a positive commandment.
Commandment 7: to swear by His Name in truth, as it is said: 'and by His Name you shall swear,' and this is a positive commandment.
Returning to Commandment 1, which is to believe that there is a God.
Know, my son, that all the commandments are 613 commandments: 248 positive commandments corresponding to the limbs of a person, and 365 negative commandments
corresponding to the sinews of a person. And whoever fulfills a commandment, it is as if he sustained his whole body, and whoever transgresses a commandment, it is as if he blemished that limb and against
that commandment. And the whole Torah depends on these commandments, and all the commandments depend on these two commandments, which are 1: to believe
