Description

These are archival documents from the Jewish schools in Baghdad. Included is a 1942 notebook by the Frank Iny School teacher, Bahija Ahmed Shhab, and correspondence between the Frank Iny School and Baghdad University confirming Shhab's appointment as a teacher. Other documents include: the administrative affairs and management of the Iraqi Jewish schools in Baghdad containing a booklet with a completed form of a teacher’s resume hired by the private Middle School for girls; a letter requesting the hire of a teacher addressed to the head of the Jewish Schools Committee in 1945; a letter to the head of the school requesting time off and sick leave days for teachers; a letter from the Frank Iny School to the University of Baghdad president in 1960 confirming that a teacher had worked at a middle school in 1946.

Appointment of a Teacher
His Excellency the Chairman of the Israelite Schools Committee, Respectfully
Greetings and respect,
As Miss Violet Gabbay left teaching in our school to join
the Higher Teachers' Training College to complete her studies at the end of October 945, we
found ourselves in dire need of a teacher to teach the Arabic language for the
sixth grade and social studies for the intermediate level, along with conducting non-religious lessons
to Miss Bahija Ahmed, a graduate of the Primary Teachers' Training College for the year 43/44, who
worked as a teacher at the Al-Sa'dun Model School since her graduation until
the beginning of this year and proved her competence during twelve days starting from
2 November 1945

(1 We inform you that Ms. Rosie Harah, English language teacher, was absent from the school
with a medical report from Dr. Qassim Al-Bazarkan for the period between May 18 to the 25th.
(2 And Ms. Rachel Ezra was absent from the school for the period between May 19 to the 25th
on sick leave from Dr. Meir Shlomo Dawood.
