And from April 24 to March 25 for the year 24.
Attached is an assessment sheet for the year 24, and another sheet was sent to the inspector
before this to assess the rent of 22, and the assessment was, as the tenant says,
at 15 Dinars, while the assessment for 24 is 24 Dinars as you see. And the Property Tax
Department claims 15 Dinars for the year 22, while it should have claimed
Dinars: 5 × 15 because the house was occupied for a period of five months only from 15 November 24
to the end of March 24 as we mentioned above, while the other seven months are included within
the period in which the house was closed.
No one has come yet so I mentioned it to inform him about the entitlement to a quarter of the house door
mentioned and building a wall in its place

His Excellency the Chairman of the Property Tax Audit Committee for the Baghdad District, Respected
The Property Assessment Committee had assessed the house numbered 2/A/1 connected to Meir
Elias Hospital and belonging to it at an amount of 120 Dinars annually and notified the hospital of this assessment.
The fact is that the aforementioned house, after it was for rent, was vacated from 14 September 932 to 15 November
933, and from this date it was merged into the hospital and designated for the residence of the resident doctor
who must be present in the hospital day and night, and the use of its external door was neglected.
Therefore, it should be exempt from property tax according to paragraph (d) of Article (4) of the Property Tax
Law No. 35 of the year 927. I request you to kindly consider my representations and issue a decision to exempt
the aforementioned house from the tax, considering that it is property of our community and used for a charitable purpose.
With respect to Your Excellency,

With reference to your letter No. 3337 dated 3 / 6 / 1935.
The Ministry of Interior has approved the employment of Dr. George Rosenow
at Meir Elias Hospital in Baghdad, provided that the same conditions
under which Dr. Süssmann and others were employed are observed, i.e., that his work
be limited to the activities of Meir Elias Hospital only.
In this regard, we would like to draw your attention to the fact that the number of doctors employed
at Meir Elias Hospital is sufficient at present in proportion to the hospital's equipment
and number of beds, and we prefer in the future, when the need arises, to employ
Iraqi doctors in the aforementioned institution. . A. A.

Reference to the letter of the Directorate of Public Health No. 8167 dated 9 Rabi' al-Awwal 54 and
11 / 6 / 1935 to this Presidency and a copy of it to your Ministry
The conditions set for the employment of Dr. Professor George Rosenow will lead to
depriving poor and non-poor patients from outside the hospital of the ability of this great
doctor and from benefiting from his art, and will prevent the dispensing of his medical prescriptions for patients who
seek him for treatment inside the hospital from pharmacies, and this is what hinders his work ⟦line⟧
and prevents the patient from consulting him and wastes the intended benefit from bringing him, and on the other
hand, the costs of the Dr. Professor will be more than one hundred dinars per month for ⟦line⟧
the hospital in the event that he is prohibited from practicing medicine outside, and this is an amount that the budget of the
hospital cannot bear. However, in the event of his licensing, the hospital will benefit from his profits, a benefit that alleviates
a significant part of the costs from the hospital's shoulders.
It is also noted that bringing a specialist scientist like this does not touch any of the interests of Iraqi medicine
and does not need restriction from this aspect because his work must be confined to
a high advisory circle that helps Iraqi medicine instead of harming it; rather, we can assert
that his presence has a general benefit because it must save a fair amount of the important ⟦line⟧
sums spent by many Iraqis on travel and medical treatment abroad at the hands of
doctors who are not more experienced than this man.
Therefore, we ask your esteemed Ministry to kindly grant us an absolute license so that we can benefit
from the services of the Dr. Professor to the greatest extent possible;

Mr. President,
I take the liberty of addressing this letter to you
to solicit from you the favor of some information.
It concerns my Father Mr. Isac Eliakim who was pass-
ing through your city about 6 months ago and stayed at the NEW DIJLE HOTEL.
I received only one letter from him with his address
at the New Dijle Hotel and after having replied to him immediately at that address
I have since then been without any news from him.
I beg you to please take an interest in his case
and if possible give me some information concerning my Father, because I
no longer have the patience to wait to receive news from him and I do not
know anyone in Baghdad.
Waiting for the pleasure of hearing from you, please accept,
Mr. President, with my anticipated thanks, my best
greetings.

I am sending your Excellency this letter of mine, hoping to be provided with some information about my father
Isaac Eliakim, who was traveling through Baghdad six months ago and stayed
at the New Tigris Hotel. I received one letter from him at the address of the New Tigris
Hotel and I sent him the answer to his mentioned letter immediately, but until now
I have not received any reply from him. So I hope to be provided with some news about my father
because I cannot be patient and I have no acquaintance in Baghdad
Moise Eliakim
Mr. President
We have understood that Isaac Eliakim stayed at the New Tigris Hotel for nearly a month and based
on our inquiry from the manager of the place, we inquired if he had died there and we also learned
that he has a trunk in the mentioned hotel that has not been opened until now, and in exchange for that
the hotel management is asking him for the sum of ⟦...⟧ Dinars

A. N. S.
I received your letter dated August 6, 1935, regarding the matter of interest for
all the days of my stay in the Holy Land, and for which I sent a sum of 50 Pounds Sterling for all
the aforementioned time.
And after inquiry and investigation, it became known to me in this regard that according to the conduct of the committee management
"Bikur Cholim in Baghdad" and after my being for many years in the capacity of "Committee Treasurer"
(this committee is separate from the Committee) and I saw several times (between the managers "Ezra and Salach")
and after the committee's request I responded to them and lent them a sum of approximately 34 ⟦impressed⟧ and also
2 used items and they are not currently in their original state, and I also have coal remaining with them
and not the owner of the table, and I suffered in this toil and weariness regarding this house and I sent to them
about five months ago that they should pay their debt (the Community Committee is sending a letter regarding this)
and therefore the response was delayed and now it is proper for me to tell you this matter so that you may know everything.
And I am the one who waits
