Is it not time for Jordan to desist?
By lawyer Faik al-Samarrai
For a long time, news has been streaming in that Trans-
jordan is negotiating secretly with the Jews to reach
a final settlement regarding Palestine, and whenever
this news leaked to the Arab countries,
Jordan hastened to deny it and dismiss the rumors,
insisting that the nature of the ongoing negotiations
does not go beyond agreeing on armistice affairs
and the problems arising from them. Until people
were surprised a few days ago by the news of the cabinet's resignation
and the tasking of Samir al-Rifai to form the new
cabinet. Those concerned with Arab politics were
almost certain that this ministerial change
was prompted by Jordan's insistence on negotiations with
Israel regarding finding a final settlement between them.
The mere thought of this caused bitter disappointment
in the souls and a shock in all Arab circles,
which set out to denounce this dangerous initiative
that threatens the Arabs in their destinies.
But Transjordan returned once again to
the denial, and the resigned Prime Minister withdrew
his resignation after announcing Samir al-Rifai's failure
in forming his new cabinet. Today,
we are met again with another terrifying piece of news,
which is that the Jordanian authorities informed
the day before yesterday the representatives of the Arab states that it
had signed a new agreement with Israel. This
tragic news was announced by the Reuters correspondent based
on a statement made by the Lebanese Minister Plenipotentiary
in Transjordan. The details of this shameful
agreement have not been known until now, but Syrian
sources say that among what was included in
this agreement is the resumption of trade between
the two countries and the return of Arab funds in Israel
to their owners. If this agreement is imminent
- and it is so in our belief despite
the denial by one of the Jordanian legations once
again - it has become the duty of the Arab countries
to define their explicit position regarding Transjordan.
Rather, Iraq must define its position
from it, because we do not want to continue supplying
Transjordan with food materials, fuel,
and oil, only for Jordan in turn to ship these
materials to the alleged Israel so that it can consolidate
its foundations and pillars and bolster its industries
and economies to prepare for the second round with us?!
Iraq is bound by a special treaty with
Transjordan; was it consulted on this
dangerous matter? And if it was consulted, what was
its position on that and what was the opinion
it gave? And if the Jordanian authorities did not
consult, then what is Iraq's position on
this neglect, and does it consider the Jordanian-
Iraqi treaty standing or is it irrelevant?
The Jordanian-Jewish agreement, in addition to
the painful significance it carries and in addition
to the disasters it will inflict upon the Arab nation,
has sparked terror in Lebanese commercial circles,
which expressed their fears that Haifa would replace
Beirut as the main outlet to the Mediterranean
Sea, which will lead to depriving Lebanon of millions
of Lebanese liras annually. In any case, it is incumbent
upon the Arab states, as they are about to
meet at the end of the current month, to gather
their will to force the Jordanian authorities to
return to the consensus and not commit
this great crime. And if it persists,
it should be boycotted by all Arab countries
with a complete and comprehensive boycott. Iraq bears
the greatest responsibility in this regard because
the commercial ties existing between it and Trans-
jordan make this country a point of leakage
to Israel. Therefore, it is necessary to impose
an economic blockade on it in order to prevent
it from feeding Israel and providing it with what
it needs in terms of raw materials and food.
There is no doubt that the departure of some Jews from
Iraq - especially among the merchants - will make
it possible for them to establish with their remaining
colleagues export and import relations between Iraq
and Israel through Transjordan
and through imaginary transport companies, which have
recently increased in establishment in Iraq,
in which a large number of professional politicians
and professional smugglers participated. These companies
became a tool for reviving Israel in the past
and will lead to consolidating its footing and strengthening it
in the future.
It has become mandatory for Iraq to
define its explicit position on these matters and to set
for itself a tight plan to implement, and it
will not benefit before history, before the generations,
and before Arab public opinion to excuse itself by saying it has no
involvement in Transjordan's behavior - as it did in
the case of the Arab Triangle - rather, it must intervene
in this behavior, and it will not be able to shake off
this historical responsibility unless it
takes a decisive position in this matter and defines
its final position toward Jordan and eliminates the smuggling
movement and imposes a comprehensive economic
blockade by which it will not allow any raw or
food materials to reach the hands of the Jews.
I hope that Jordan does not want
to favor us by listing the benefits of this
Jordanian-Jewish agreement in its condition of returning Arab
funds that it seized, because Israel was
ready before its war with the Arabs to
buy part of this result it reached
with millions of dinars. So the return of Arab funds
to them is not something that Jordan should use as a favor
to us, knowing that the Arabs and their money
will be among the sources of Jewish independence
if they return and if a tight plan is not put
to keep them from the Jewish method of treachery.
We demand that the government disclose
its explicit opinion on these matters and put
an end to the questioning that fills the heart of every Iraqi
and every Arab about Iraq's position on this new
catastrophe that Transjordan is about to add
to the previous catastrophes inflicted upon the Arab
nation at its hands, and we are waiting for the
government's response.

Tel Aviv's Panic over the Departure of Jews from Iraq
Fear of Property Confiscation and Crowding in Israel
London - Reports coming from
Tel Aviv to London indicate that Iraq's decision
allowing Iraqi Jews to emigrate
to Israel on the condition of renouncing
their Iraqi citizenship, has caused concern in
government circles in Tel Aviv. While
Zionists welcomed Salih Jabr's decision
outwardly, officials in
Tel Aviv fear that this may mean
expelling all Iraqi Jews and confiscating
their property. Additionally, the continuous migration of Jews
from Iraq to Israel might result in
stopping Jewish migration from other countries
because the country will become crowded with them.
There is another problem, which is the lack
of common borders between Iraq
and Israel; therefore, Jews
migrating from Iraq are forced to cross Syria
or East Jordan, both of which do not allow
that, or to cross through Turkey or Iran,
which incurs high expenses.
Reports coming to London indicate
that Iraqi Jews have been migrating
from Iraq to Israel for months
already, utilizing forged
passports. It is said that a single
forged passport costs two thousand
pounds, in addition to the large bribes
required for travel.
The semi-official Zionist newspaper
"Jewish Chronicle" published
an editorial on this subject, stating
that Iraqi Jews who have been
living behind the Arab Iron Curtain
for many years, during which they were subjected
to harsh treatment, are now able to
leave the country where they were born. The
newspaper welcomes the Iraqi decision and says it
contains an indirect recognition of Israel
as an independent, sovereign state. Then
the newspaper expressed fear regarding Iraq's actions
toward the Jews who wish to emigrate
to Israel, questioning: "Will the
Jews be allowed to emigrate with their money, or
will the Iraqi government covet it and search
their bags illegally?" Then
the newspaper appealed to the Iraqi government
to be tolerant with the Jews and let them travel
with their money instead of being
penniless beggars.

Zionists in Baghdad Threaten
The newspaper owner, its responsible manager, and its editors are threatened with death, the printing press
⟦line⟧
This newspaper has taken upon itself, driven by the national sentiment of those supervising its editing and what the public interest dictates to them, to attack the Jews and what they do, and to fight them with all its strength. What it wrote about the auctions had an impact on the souls of Iraqis, as it became clear through their boycott of these (looters). It also spared no effort in fighting their smugglers and their smuggling because of the impact that has on Iraq's economy on one hand, and the reinforcement of the enemy on the other hand with soldiers from those who deny the grace of this
homeland, whose bodies were filled with blood from its bounties.
And with the equipment they buy with Iraq's money which they smuggle. What this newspaper writes about the Jews and their smuggling has had a good effect, as all responsible departments, especially the police departments, have taken interest in combating them and preventing their escape without leniency and with all severity out of concern for the public interest. All of this is what caused the Jews to be resentful of this newspaper and those supervising its editing. This resentment was manifested by them in numerous letters that began to reach us
continuously, containing threats to assassinate the editors and reporters, and at the top of the list, the newspaper owner and its responsible manager, and to blow up the printing press where it is printed. This threat extended to foul insults and cursing that no one would utter or write except those who are like these filthy, base people. We received a letter signed by a signatory with the signature (On behalf of the branch of the Sons of Israel Association in Iraq), another signed by (President of the Israel Youth Association), and a third signed by (Zion Youth League). The senders of these letters asked us to stop attacking the Jews and not to refer to these letters of theirs, otherwise they would carry out their threats.
However, we say to everyone who sent a letter of this kind that, by Almighty God, our resolve will not weaken, nor will we refrain from fighting you as long as there is a pulsing vein in us and as long as we have strength, and with God's help, no intimidator shall intimidate us.

Supporting the Call

Sayyid Ali Taqi, may God protect him, leads the prayer, Abdul Jabbar
Abdul Hussein Al-Anbar, a member of the Bara'ah
Mosque, delivered a valuable speech in which he welcomed what was delivered by
Ayatollah Sheikh Muhammad al-Khalisi, may God exalt
his station, in the Friday sermon in which he addressed
the actions of the impure Jews who are still
fighting us physically and economically, so it is the duty of every
zealous Muslim to boycott them and not buy
their goods, as they are our enemies - as He,
the Almighty, said in His Glorious Book (You will surely find
the most intense of people in animosity toward the believers to be the Jews...)

Iran recognizes Israel!!!
Radio Beirut announced the day before yesterday that Iran has recognized
officially and de facto the Jews as a state. We had pointed out in a previous issue the reasons
that made Iran comply with the United States in providing aid
and facilities to the Iraqi Jews fleeing to it, so this recognition came to complete many of
the Iranian actions and measures for the Jews. So, congratulations to Muslim Iran, which is linked with Iraq
by the Sa'dabad Pact, for this recognition that made American aid to it move on
the head before the foot.

Prices of goods exported abroad
Taking measures to return them to Iraq
Since the export of some Iraqi exports to neighboring countries is carried out
freely, i.e., without requiring the exporter to return their value, and since this method facilitates the smuggling
of Iraqi capital, especially after the law amending the revocation of citizenship for Jews, the
Joint Committee of the Financial and Economic Committees recommended, during its discussion of the draft Foreign
Exchange Control Law, the adoption of effective measures to ensure the return of the value of the goods mentioned
above in any form whatsoever.

Iraq's measures regarding the Jews
And the disruption of the immigration system to Israel
London - Zionist circles in London look with suspicion at the law passed by
the Iraqi Chamber of Deputies last week, according to which Iraqi Jews are allowed to emigrate.
These circles fear that Iraq will force all members of the Jewish community, who are wealthy
and numerous, to migrate to Israel.
Zionists believe that the Iraqi government will freeze all the funds of Jews in the
country and confiscate their property; additionally, the migration of one hundred thousand immigrants from Iraq will lead
to a disruption in the system of immigration from Europe and other regions.
These Zionists say that the immigrants will be forced, given that there are no
common borders between Iraq and Israel, to take a long route, costing heavy expenses,
through Iran and Turkey, as it is unlikely that Syria and Jordan will allow them to pass through
their territories.
Al-Hawadeth newspaper does not lie
The esteemed "Al-Shaab" newspaper published in its issue issued Friday morning
a "denial" it claimed to have received from "Credit Bank" in which it denied what we published that
the mentioned bank had suspended payments!
We emphasize here to the readers of the esteemed Al-Shaab newspaper that Al-Hawadeth newspaper does not lie...
and that "Credit Bank" specifically did stop paying for one day... but
one of the well-known financiers remedied the matter at the last minute...
As for Credit Bank saying it is "continuing to pay according to regulations"? .. This
does not mean it did not stop for one day and that we are lying... rather it means that it resumed its operations
after the "good people" sought to avoid the disaster of stopping payment.

Recognition
Iran and Turkey of Israel
Yesterday, Iran's recognition of Israel was the talk of the town, and Muslims were
seething with rage over this recognition, which came as a disappointment to the hopes
of many who thought well of this Muslim state, and although Turkey had recognized
this state, people believed that religious influence in Iran
is stronger than in the Turkish government, and that Iran would not proceed to recognize this
state as long as the influential word belonged to the religious mujtahids there, but those who observe the state of
Jewish escape to Iran in many caravans are not surprised by this government's
haste in recognition, for the Iranian government acted as a bridge between
Iraq and Tel Aviv, and this great leniency shown by the Iranian
government was a result of greed to obtain a few dirhams from every Jew
crossing the Iraqi border into it, and if there had been literary courtesies between Iraq
and Iran, the neighbor would have refrained from accepting Jews in such enormous numbers, but it
no longer saw any embarrassment in offending a government linked to it by the Saadabad Pact
which prohibits the occurrence of these continuous aggressions.
If we find anything strange in this hostile policy, it is that we find it strange at
the time when His Majesty the Shah shows a sincere desire to strengthen Islamic ties
with the Muslim Pakistani government; so has His Majesty's government considered that recognition
of the State of Israel, the arch-enemy of Islam, contradicts those ties and even undermines
their foundations, as well as disturbing the peace of neighborhood between Muslim Iraq and
Muslim Iran??
The Iranian government might say: why does the Iraqi, Arab,
and Islamic press direct such blame to it and not to the Turkish government?? To that
we say that the Turkish government has severed every connection it had with Islam and most of its
politicians do not look at Islam except as a meager commodity, and that the Turkish people
are powerless, and the Turkish government does not boast about Islamic ties while
it sees itself excused in this regard, unlike the Iranian government and the Iranian
people, for they still display recognition of the Islamic spirit that fills
the press fields there, and the overwhelming flood that flows to the holy shrines
on every occasion indicates the Islamic spirit that dominates the psyche of the Iranian
people, the likes of which we have not found in the Turkish people who languish under the control of
politicians there, and who were even prevented from performing the Hajj pilgrimage.
The Iranian government might say: what have the Arab governments done in terms of
negligence with the State of Israel such that you ask us to support them in all matters??
And that the Arab governments alone, if they had agreed among themselves, Israel would not have found
a way to remain in this Muslim Arab part, and this argument, even if it has
some validity, does not justify this alienation and this haste for recognition,
and even if we believe that the Iranian government had no choice in this recognition but
it followed the American dollar and the pressure of the American government which adopted
this "foundling" since it fell to the ground "crippled" were it not for the care and attention
of the American state, which forced the Arab government to sign the truce and saved
Israel from the Arab claw stuck in its body, and the Arab peoples must
believe that the American government is the one that established the pillars of this state on
the Muslim Palestinian land, and that what America coveted in establishing peace in
this part will not be achieved as long as the State of Israel stands before the Arab peoples,
and if force is what subjugated the Arab governments "not the Arab peoples",
then this force will vanish one day and the Jews will not find this force
beside them when the hour of rescue strikes, and this is not the first time Palestine has been afflicted
with such harsh trials, for the Americans know the bloody death that
took place on the grounds of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and which resulted in purifying this land from
the conquering invaders, and when the influence of the Arab peoples strengthens, history will repeat
itself and control over this holy part will remain for the Arabs alone.

Failed Jewish Campaigns
Many in London expect that Jewish propaganda
will launch a new campaign in the near future
against Iraq, no different from the campaigns it
carried out a few months ago to induce Jews
to donate to Israel.
The newspaper "The Jewish
Chronicle," the mouthpiece of the Zionists in
England, published an article in which it claimed that an anti-
Jewish campaign took place in Baghdad, and that
police forces are raiding schools? and charity institutions?
and hospitals? claiming (sic) that these
institutions are collecting funds to send them
to Israel.
The newspaper continues in its article, saying:
The Iraqi press is also launching
harsh attacks on the Jewish community, which
was known for obedience and order (?).
Iraqi newspapers are demanding the taking of
effective measures against (the Jewish Fifth
Column) and suggested allowing Jews
to emigrate from Iraq provided they leave
their property and valuable assets.
The newspaper said that despite the
strict surveillance imposed by the Iraqi
government on the borders, a significant number
of Jews are risking their lives
and their money to sneak abroad, escaping
from the miserable condition they suffer (sic).
Some Jews have been able in recent
weeks to escape across the Iraqi-
Iranian border, but the luck of some of them was not
good when they fell into the traps of the
Iraqi forces in Khanaqin and elsewhere and were
referred to the courts.

A Curious Incident in Basra
A Jew entrusts a Muslim with currencies valued at [1400] Dinars
So the latter usurps them and hides them in the desert
A clever police trick reveals the crime
On 1/3/950, there arrived at
the Al-Maqal police station belonging to the railways
a person named Saleh Nawi, a resident of
Baghdad, who works as a (trader/dealer)
between Baghdad and Basra, reporting that a (trust/package)
was sent with him by one of the money changers in
Baghdad named (Shamil) to be delivered to
his brother Naim Roubil, the well-known money changer
in Basra, and it contains bank notes
of Indian, Pakistani, and Iranian currency
all valued at (1400) Dinars,
and that the aforementioned middleman Saleh
handed it over to a person named Jabbar bin Aliwi,
owner of a café at the (Al-Tuba) station, when
he saw him on the train and asked him to take
this trust which was inside a small (basket)
containing some clothes and to exit from
inside the station to the outside through other than
the main door, fearing harassment
due to him being Jewish. However, the person was confused
about his situation after receiving it from Saleh, so he did not know
how to exit the station with it while knowing
that inside it were cash sums, so he exited
the station and fled to an unknown destination... and upon
investigation by the police under the supervision of
Assistant Mr. Abdul Wadud and the Station Officer
Mr. Majid Hamoudi, the fugitive was identified
and located at Al-Tuba station, so he was arrested,
but he denied receiving the basket at
first, then it turned out he had hidden it in a place
outside the station. Upon deep investigation
with him, it appeared that this criminal has strong nerves
and persisted in denial, especially as he said in
his statement:-
- Is it reasonable, sir, that
a Jew would trust a Muslim man and give him this
amount? And if his claim that I received this
amount were true, is it conceivable that I would stay here and not flee
to a far place, especially since the road to
Iran is open?
But after being detained for ten
days and investigated by various police methods
and the use of modern techniques with him, he confessed
the truth and led to the hiding place of the amount
after he was deceived into believing he would split the amount with the Assistant
and that he should insist on denial. In this way,
the amount was found near Al-Tuba station
in full inside a small pit,
where the Assistant received it in the presence of the Station Officer
only..
There, the accused requested, according to the agreement,
to split the amount, so the Assistant replied to him that this
must happen in a safe place known
to no one.
The accused was led to Al-Maqal in Basra,
and presented to the investigating judge with the full amount..
Thus, Jabbar fell into custody and the
booty was lost from his hand..
And thus also this strange incident revealed
the competence and decisiveness of our police and the faces
of gifted youth among the assistants and commissioners,
for the method by which Assistant Mr.
Abdul Wadud and the Station Officer Mr.
Abdul Majid extracted the confession of the accused and made him
volunteer willingly to bring out the amount without
the use of beating or means of violence shows
the tact of this Assistant and Commissioner and their intelligence,
especially the control of nerves and the composure in
facial expression, for which it is fitting that we bless their efforts
and congratulate them on this rare skill.

Khanaqin
An important center for Jewish smuggling
The city of Khanaqin is almost the most active
in smuggling Jews and their money to Iran
and from there to Tel Aviv, more than other cities and towns
located on the Iraqi-Iranian border
and they are all exposed, unfortunately - however
Khanaqin has taken the lead in this.
The letters that flow to the management of "Al-Yaqaza"
in this regard are more than can be counted, and all of them
refer to names, places, and agencies
in a way that leaves no room for doubt that there are
organized bodies for smuggling Jews from that
city. Readers have already seen
what our correspondent there provided us regarding the work of
the "Isaac Karandi and Co. for Jewish Smuggling"
and through a transport company known
for its prestigious position. Two or three days ago
the District Governor of Khanaqin, Mr.
Tawfiq Mukhtar, with the police officers with him,
was able to seize a car carrying 20 Jews, among them
a lawyer and a doctor, and 10 women, and they were taken to
the judiciary, and today the news informed us that
the aforementioned District Governor caught another car
between Khanaqin and Al-Munthiriya, and was able with a force
of police as well to seize it, and it
was carrying 49 Jewish heads between men,
women, and children, and their protector,
the well-known merchant Abd al-Sattar Qaddouri, was arrested
along with his son. Also, our correspondent in Khanaqin informed us
on Wednesday afternoon by telephone that there is
an Iranian man who settled in Khanaqin some time ago,
who is Ali Beyouki, the owner of a car garage
and one of Isaac Karandi's partners, and he has
numerous partners and agents in Baghdad, Baqubah,
Khanaqin, Khosravi, Al-Munthiriya, and other
cities and villages, appearing to work
as employees, farmers, and foremen, but they
are among the most active people in smuggling Jews to
Iran, and they meet their agents in Baghdad
at a well-known cafe among the cafes of Al-Rashid
Street. This is in addition to what we hear
from people about smuggling activities in Khanaqin,
which are more than can be counted. And all this
news is beyond refutation or doubt
as long as the Khanaqin-Iran road is exposed,
and after transportation was facilitated by its paving
and surfacing by the British occupying
armies to facilitate their work and military
movements.
There is the "Quratu" sub-district, which
is separated from Iran only by a stream
whose width does not exceed two meters, and even a child
can cross it on foot because of the shallowness
of its water, and on the other side of it is an Iranian
village, and the residents of the two villages visit each
other, and often they helped each other
to hide those who evaded military service
and fugitives from justice from both sides.
And there, at a distance of three hours by truck
to the northeast of Quratu sub-district, is a village named
after its owner "Majid Khan Qadir Agha"
who is considered one of the pillars of charcoal smuggling from
Iran to Iraq, and he has his general agent in
Khanaqin, the Jew Moshi Hayy, and on the second
side of the Quratu River which overlooks
his village, is another Iranian village whose affairs are managed
by a police sergeant "Sarhang".
Beyond this and that, half of the city of Khanaqin
consists of wealthy Jews, and the other half
consists of Muslim laborers and peasants, and one Jew
owns half of their properties and more,
namely "Moshi Hayy," about whose criminal acts
"Al-Yaqaza" has written more than once. Therefore, after these details,
we hope that the government will be firmer in
monitoring the borders regarding this issue
and strike against the hands of smugglers and their centers
in Baghdad, Baqubah, Khanaqin, Khosravi,
Al-Munthiriya, and other parts of the border. Otherwise,
there is no use anymore for the law of revoking
citizenship from Jews.

* One newspaper said that the horns of
Jewish propaganda are launching a new campaign against
Iraq in London. And I say, why do we go
far when these horns are playing their tunes in
the capital of Al-Rashid itself, and among us are those who enjoy
that and sing along to it!?
* Jews are smuggling gold and money in
Samoon bread and winter clothes, and they have recently
resorted to making car bumpers out of
gold plated with white nickel for camouflage.
Has the government learned of the tricks of the children of the devil
and taken measures to protect the national wealth
from being lost at their hands!

Do the Jews have a hand
in the killing of the late Al-Damirji?
The death of the late Mr. Abd
al-Hadi al-Damirji had a resounding impact among all
classes of people due to the status he achieved in
his professional life... especially since he enjoyed
the friendship of the men of government in this country.
The readers have learned the details of his death
in yesterday's newspapers, as "Al-Yaqza" was on
Friday break... and we publish below the most important
information reached by our representative:
The late Al-Damirji is considered one of the wealthiest
people in Iraq, and his assets are estimated at three
million dinars... and his building located on
"Al-Samawal" Street is one of the largest buildings in
Iraq as it contains seven floors on which he spent
nearly half a million dinars...
He also has a new building whose foundations
have begun to be poured near the Marjan Mosque,
and it is said that he was thinking for it to be like
its sister in (Al-Samawal)...
As for the incident of his death, it is still shrouded in
mystery due to the lack of evidence or
traces left by the criminal or (criminals)
who assassinated him... and Mr.
Abd al-Muhsin al-Qazwini, the investigating judge of Northern Rusafa,
continues his investigation into this case, as he
listened to the testimonies of witnesses to find out where
Al-Damirji spent his night... and who
contacted him during it?
As for the dilemma faced by the investigating judge
in this case, it is that the (latch) of the office
was locked from the inside, which indicates that
the criminal or (criminals) were using
duplicate keys... and His Excellency the Judge ordered
the arrest of: Salim Munshi
and Abdullah Ishaq (who are among his employees who
review his accounts and manage his
commercial business)... and detaining them for investigation
due to their possession of the keys to the shop
and their knowledge of all his business...
Our representatives have reached other
details, but we are withholding them until
another time to preserve the integrity of the investigation...

Registration of Jews wishing to leave Iraq
Registrants do not exceed 35 people
As we indicated in a previous issue, a center for the registration of Jews wishing to renounce
their nationality and leave Iraq has opened at the Meir Taweig Synagogue in Al-Bataween, and upon the arrival
of the registration committee headed by the Director of Travel and Nationality Police, Mr. Muhammad Abdul Aziz, and his assistant,
and a number of commissioners and some clerks, and the start of registration, some of those present directed questions to
the Director of Travel Police regarding certain issues, including how to travel, and the necessities that
each individual can take with them, and so on, which led to the suspension of registration until
the registration process supervisor obtained the necessary information to answer these questions, and on
last Thursday, i.e., the day after the start of registration, the registration committee met again
and continues to meet at the mentioned location, and despite the crowding of the registration center with
curious people, the number of registrants had not exceeded, as of yesterday, thirty-five people
among men, women, and children.

We have also learned that the government has withdrawn two draft laws: the first is the draft law preventing the transfer

which is the draft that was established to increase fees on these means, an increase met by car
owners with condemnation.

The government will not confiscate Jewish property
Some local newspapers published yesterday indicated that the government is in the process of seizing
movable and immovable Jewish property for the purpose of confiscating it to prevent the smuggling of
cash and other assets outside of Iraq. Given the importance of this news and its potential consequences,
our reporter contacted one of the responsible authorities to inquire about the veracity of this report,
and learned that it is entirely untrue and that the government has no intention of carrying out such an action.

What are the Jews' hidden intentions
in leaving Iraq via smuggling instead of resorting
to the regular path
By lawyer Fa'iq al-Samarrai
Yesterday, one of the sister publications published news
stating that a center for registering Jews wishing
to renounce their citizenship and leave Iraq has
opened in the Meir Tweg Synagogue in Al-Sinawiya
And when the registration committee attended, the attendees directed
questions about some issues, including how to
travel and the necessities that each individual can
take with him, etc., which led to
the suspension of registration until the supervisor of
the registration process obtains the necessary information
to respond to the questions. Last Thursday,
the committee met again and continues to meet.
Despite the crowding of the registration center
with curious people, the number of registrants did not
exceed thirty-five as of yesterday,
among them men, women, and children.
And what the esteemed sister publication published
calls for deep contemplation, especially if we know
that the smuggling routes have not been cut off yet,
and news continues to arrive regarding bloody
clashes occurring between the escapees and police
forces. So what are the hidden intentions behind this
action? And why do Jews prefer leaving via
smuggling, with all its inherent dangers,
instead of taking the regular path which
was opened for them by the law supplementing the decree of revoking
Iraqi citizenship?
It is a mistake to think that the Jews desire to
leave Iraq via smuggling because of
transferring their money with them, because those who were caught
red-handed in the crime of smuggling did
not carry their fortunes with them, but rather carry slight
expenses to ensure facilitating their escape and nothing more.
But the real reason is that these escapees
want to retain their Iraqi citizenship
and do not want to renounce it for many reasons,
the most important of which is their hope to return in the coming days
for purposes that serve the alleged Israel, and
it is not unlikely that this foundling state has
instructions in this regard followed by the Jews
literally, without deviating from them. Therefore, it is incumbent
upon the government to take the deterrent
and preventative measures that prevent the continuation of
this situation, which would eliminate the
Jewish plans to return to Iraq
when Israel asks them to do so to perform
the role required of them, whether in the activities of
the fifth column or in economic
and financial activities when the feet of the alleged Israel
are established. Among the deterrent and
preventative measures is adopting the proposal submitted
by the Independence Party to freeze the funds
of Jews covered by the provisions of Article Two
of the aforementioned law, who are those who leave
Iraq or attempt to leave it in an illegal
manner, if the government does not find in itself
the ability to impose this freeze on all
Jews in Iraq as a reciprocal measure,
which is what Israel adopted toward Palestinian
Arabs.
This is from one side, and on the other side,
the provisions of Article Three of the law cannot
be applied unless some administrative and
preventative measures are taken, because this article considered the Iraqi
Jew who previously left Iraq in an
illegal manner as if he had left "Iraq permanently
if he does not return to it within a period of two months from
the effective date of this law, and Iraqi citizenship is revoked
from him from the date this period ends."
So how can the responsible authorities know
the individuals who previously left Iraq
illegally, and how can they
revoke citizenship from them if they do not know
their identities? Therefore, it is necessary then to take
some administrative measures, which are the necessity of
registering the remaining Jews in specific registration centers
and giving them IDs carrying their descriptions
and their photographs, provided this is completed within
a specific limited time similar to what occurred in
the general census, so as not to leave room
for manipulation where one of them comes forward twice
to register himself as two different persons. And after
obtaining these IDs, they are exposed
by proving their presence at intervals.
This is the only way that protects
Iraq from these dangers that threaten it
from behind this complex Jewish problem
which Israel created, and which the Jews themselves created,
who showed in all circumstances
and conditions an attachment to this foundling state
and a neglect for the feeling of citizenship in all their behaviors.
And perhaps the government will proceed with taking these
measures immediately, as the delay in deciding upon them
benefits the Jews and gains them sufficient time
to manipulate the provisions of the law and find
counter-means to evade its reach.

Artistry in Smuggling Money
Fleeing Jews have begun to excel in
the methods of smuggling money; they place
gold in plates and put dinars
between their private parts and posteriors, all for smuggling
money. These methods, in our view, are futile
and will not lead them to their goals if the
border guards remain vigilant, and if the means of
temptation do not benefit them. This method—the 'method
of bribery'—is more dangerous than all the arts
pursued by the Jews. It is up to the
administration and police officers at the borders to
place the interest of their nation above all interests
and rise above all greed; by this alone
we defeat the enemy.
