His Excellency the President of the Jewish Community in Baghdad
What is presented to your Excellency
Sir, a monthly salary of ten dinars was allocated to me to assist me financially
for my husband and his two brothers, Sassoon, Menashi, and Nissim, the sons of Yaqub, who are currently imprisoned in Nuqrat
Al-Salman. Since I am in a weak condition and have no one to support me
and now it has come to my attention that the aforementioned assistance has been canceled by the respected committee. And since
this assistance is not enough to sustain the aforementioned prisoners. Therefore, I have come with my petition
imploring your fatherly kindness to increase the salary because I am oppressed and in need of your kindness
I hope for your support and to hand over the amount to me from December and January
And to you is the reward and merit, sir

To the Presidency of the Administrative Body of the Israelite Community
The Respected
Through
The Administration of Frank Iny School
It is not hidden from your excellency that an employee relies on his salary, and a married employee
benefits from the hospital throughout the month and without cost except in cases of illness or otherwise for his wife
The community has since ancient times performed what is required for that, and it is not hidden from your presidency
when the administration of ⟦illegible⟧ in Meir Elias was managed by the community, and since
my wife is pregnant and she is ⟦illegible⟧ giving birth, in addition to the fact that I am always in a state of burden which
made me spend from ⟦illegible⟧ my monthly salary for midwives, medicines, and what is necessary
Furthermore, my salary barely covers the rent for housing, so what about the time of birth
This is what puts me in financial distress, so I have come with this request of mine, hoping for the allocation of an amount
or the payment of hospital and childbirth fees as it was previously and as is done for employees
now. This is with much gratitude to you.
Submitted by
Anwar Moussa Lereb
Teacher at Frank Iny Intermediate School
Referred in original to the Presidency of the Administrative Committee of the Israelite Community in Baghdad
to look into the matter and grant the request if possible, with the knowledge that
teachers in the community's schools used to enjoy discounts
that were not insignificant in hospital fees when the Meir
Elias Hospital was open.
