His Excellency the Chairman of the Administrative Committee of the Jewish Community, the Respected
After greetings.
When I was appointed as a collector by Your Excellency, I was appointed with a salary of only ten dinars per month, and Mr. Saleh
Isaac Moshi and the respected Mr. Reuben Isaac were with me, holding all the ledgers and records for the many
endowments in his possession. After that, exactly four months ago, you issued your esteemed administrative order appointing me
as Property Officer instead of Mr. Reuben Isaac to keep the ledgers and records, and instead of Mr. Saleh Isaac
Moshi, without allocating a salary for me for this position, knowing that I have taken over all of their work alone
only, without any assistant, as you see I have divided the day into several parts:
1- Collection in the morning
2- Notifications
3- Inspections before submitting them to the engineering department for survey
4- Personal follow-ups with the lawyer
5- Tiring follow-ups with the property owners
6- The many tasks of the department
So, Your Excellency the Respected Chairman, I am now working as much as four employees without any assistant and without any office boy
to help me or to send anywhere; rather, I handle everything with my own hands.
I now ask the respected members of the Administrative Committee of the Jewish Community to ask and inquire
from our beloved head of department, His Eminence Rabbi Sassoon Khedhouri, the Respected, whether he was and still is satisfied with
my work or not, and whether I deserve a salary for bookkeeping or not.
And now, I have organized a list of the names of the tenants and the numbers of their houses and shops where their annual rent
has been increased, and the increase to this date has reached six hundred and sixty dinars during my tenure of keeping the records.
God willing, if you place your trust in me more than this, I will make this figure reach thousands of dinars or much more.
